The
quality of the Auge landscapes is a common heritage and a capital that
everyone must develop. This postulate was at the origin of the creation
of the landscape charter that unites the four cantons of the Pays d’Auge
: Cambremer, Blangy-le-Château, Dozulé and
Pont l’Evêque.
An act of
faith of the local elected representatives, this charter was undertaken
to reach four objectives:
-
To create an inventory of landscapes.
-
To use the
inventory as a reference for overall landscapes projects, useful
when drawing up planning documents and for building permit landscape
appreciation.
-
To implement landscape improvement work.
-
To contribute towards the cultural development and
awareness of the inhabitants.
The
originality of the work assumed in these four cantons is that an
interest is taken in the ordinary as well as the exceptional landscapes.
The landscapes reflect a changing reality , bear the signs of local
fragilities or dynamism. A result of the agriculture, the landscapes are
the expression of a society’s culture and human activities. This is
shown by the exhibition, in 54 panels, dedicated to the eight
collections of landscapes of these four cantons.
On
this Internet site, the original presentation of each panel has been
respected but to facilitate an easy reading some slight technical
modifications have been brought. Please note that a few panels are not
represented.
